Perched in Mumbai’s skyline, Apartment VIII by Kiran Gala & Associates reimagines high-end living through soaring proportions and a curated material palette. With 13-foot ceilings, beige marble floors, and sand-blasted travertine walls, the design team crafted an environment that feels both expansive and intimately refined.
Unified Living and Dining with Textural Nuance
In this home, the living and dining areas flow as one cohesive expanse. Consequently, a fur-lined sofa meets deep green leather armchairs, while a custom green quarry marble coffee table anchors the seating cluster. Moreover, statement pieces from Natuzzi and Scarlet Splendour punctuate the neutral backdrop, adding sculptural flair. Soft drapery and layered lighting infuse warmth, turning the open plan into a tranquil retreat.
Illuminated Passageway as Visual Journey
Despite its lack of windows, the corridor in Apartment VIII never feels enclosed. Firstly, a bold zig-zag marble inlay guides the eye, its rhythm mirrored by frosted-glass panels that softly filter daylight. Then, mirrored walls amplify depth, while rich wood accents and curated artworks transform the passage into a gallery-like experience. As a result, every step through this transition zone feels engaging and purposeful.
Sculptural Beds and Bespoke Details
In the master suite, a stone bed-back—carved from a single rock into fluid wave forms—takes center stage. On the opposing wall, a Scarlet Splendour artwork glows against wooden panelling and a discreet brass backdrop that conceals the walk-in closet. Meanwhile, the son’s room features a bold Swedish Bolon-clad headboard, reinterpreting woven vinyl into a tactile statement. Each bedroom’s custom element reinforces its identity while maintaining the home’s overall harmony.
Material Interplay and Lasting Sophistication
Ultimately, Apartment VIII achieves effortless sophistication by marrying raw textures—marble, travertine, and carved stone—with refined finishes and bespoke furnishings. Through thoughtful detailing and seamless flow, Kiran Gala & Associates created a Mumbai residence where luxury feels fresh, inviting, and perfectly balanced.
