Brick & Gable House is designed for a family of four. We were initially engaged to build a larger house for them, but after spending time living overseas, they returned realising that they could live in a smaller footprint.
This Federal-style townhouse, once located in the historical Washington Street Market active from the 1770s to 1960s, was used for most of its life as an egg and poultry distributor. During the 1970s, the townhouse together with 8 others was renovated as part of the Washington Street Urban Renewal Plan.
The 26-year-old house is situated in the Anadolu Hisari district of Istanbul, famed for its Beauteous Castle, the oldest surviving example of an Ottoman architectural structure from which the storied and opulent neighborhoods takes its name.
