Michael Thomas Host, founder of Mth Woodworks in Vancouver, is the son of a forest ranger and he is a passionate man of wood and forest and of outdoor pleasuring. Michael has gained experience in working with wood realizing in Brooklyn, New York, custom furniture and wooden facilities of large sizes. He also has worked as a builder of yachts where he had valuable experiences in working with resins and epoxies. All this know-how accumulated is materialized today in furniture and projects that aim to connect to nature and forest. Along with his partner Tanja Hinder, Michael realizes unique furniture using trunks of trees and stands out the growth rings of trees, like some beautiful flowers. He gives to each created object a load of natural history, a sense of chronology and a proper story. The creations of the two designers are unique and can not be duplicated, each work relies on natural trunks of trees, aged between 60 and 600 years, age that is surprised by the rings that are artistically highlighted within each creation. We present to you below, the Bloom collection made on the basis of cedar and birch, recovered from the Vancouver Island. The wood is surrounded by natural resin, forming flat surfaces, functional, that highlight the organic beauty of wood, its age and story. Via Mth Woodworks
