Bondi Apartment, redesigned by Brooke Aitken Design, transforms a 1990s-built residence into a contemporary and cohesive living space. Located near Bondi Beach with views over Rose Bay, the apartment draws inspiration from its coastal setting, incorporating natural tones and textures that enhance both form and function. By blending bold colours with refined materials, the renovation achieves a seamless connection between the home and its surroundings.
A Refined Approach to Coastal Living
Originally a bland three-bedroom apartment with outdated fittings, the space was reimagined to introduce warmth, depth, and personality. Since the goal was to create a fluid and visually engaging home, the redesign centers on a holistic approach to materiality and colour. By carefully selecting a palette of deep greens and blues, inspired by both the harbour views and the client’s appreciation for rich tropical tones, the design establishes a strong sense of continuity. Furthermore, the interplay of bold hues and neutral elements ensures that the space remains both vibrant and timeless.
A Master Bedroom with Distinctive Character
The master bedroom serves as the focal point of the renovation, incorporating a jungle panorama wallpaper that infuses the space with organic vibrancy. To further enhance the visual depth, powder-coated blue handles frame the bedhead, echoing the surrounding colour scheme. In addition, the thoughtful layering of textures creates a balanced atmosphere that is both bold and serene. This approach allows the space to feel like a retreat while maintaining a strong connection to the apartment’s coastal environment.
Seamless Integration of Materials and Colour
To unify the design, dark timber flooring was introduced throughout the bedrooms and living spaces, providing a strong foundation that anchors the overall aesthetic. Meanwhile, subtle material shifts and strategic pops of colour highlight the apartment’s spatial transformations. As a result, the interior reflects an effortless blend of contemporary style and organic richness inspired by nature.
In the end, the Bondi Apartment renovation successfully redefines the living space, turning an uninspired 90s canvas into a modern, inviting, and visually engaging home. Through the careful use of colour, texture, and materiality, the design creates an environment that is not only stylish but also deeply connected to its coastal setting.
