Perched on a lush hillside, the Brutalist-Style House by Yuan Architects uses staggered terraces to bring indoor areas outdoors. As a result, each level feels connected to the green hills and forest beyond. Yet the home still offers a strong sense of privacy behind its solid concrete walls. Furthermore, the design blends nature with a modern aesthetic.
A Curved Wall to Guide Space
First, a curved concrete wall runs through the house. It clearly separates public rooms from private ones. Moreover, this sculptural wall guides movement from the living areas to the bedrooms. In addition, its smooth curves contrast with the home’s straight lines.
Private Zones and Shared Terraces
Next, the curved wall wraps around the master suite on one side and the children’s rooms on the other. Then, three terraces sit between these private zones and the main living space. Consequently, family members can choose to gather together or retreat alone. Also, the terraces offer spots for breakfast, reading, or late-afternoon play.
Seamless Indoor–Outdoor Flow
Moreover, large sliding glass doors open each room onto its terrace. As a result, the kitchen, living room, and bedrooms all feel like part of the landscape. In addition, built-in benches and planters bring greenery into daily life. Therefore, fresh air and daylight flow deep into the home.
Simple Materials, Lasting Impact
Furthermore, the architects used raw concrete and sturdy glass throughout. This choice ensures the house withstands winds and rain without much upkeep. Also, these materials age gracefully against the hillside. Finally, each element reinforces the home’s strong, honest character.
A Home in Harmony with Nature
Overall, every detail supports a simple life close to nature. The terraces and wall shape offer both shelter and openness. In turn, the family enjoys privacy and stunning views. Altogether, this Brutalist-Style House proves that bold design and natural beauty can live in harmony.
