Coastal Decor and Traditional Architecture Under Mediterranean Breeze

Coastal decor is excellently represented by the design of this house in Ibiza, renovated by designer Nicolae Draghici that managed to achieve a dream retreat, thus materializing the owners wish. Although in Ibiza is a vibrant life, on the island there are places that provide privacy, quiet and relaxing moments generously offered by the landscapes, sun and Mediterranean breezes.

The architecture of the house is traditional, specific to the site, the house has put up with many additions of volumes and terraces over the years. The view is superb, offering to the owners a picture of the old part of the town and Marina Botafoch harbor. Without losing its traditional architectural character, the house has a new personality now that happily combines the modern with rustic, all being animated by the colonial-coastal style decors.

In order to maintain the tradition, no exception has been made by the decorator from the natural materials like wood, stone, cotton and wicker, straw, or leaves of corn. The furniture and decors entirely are made by hand, a part being obtained through the aesthetics recapitalization of some old crates, baskets, lanterns or suitcases. Somehow, the house is a piece of history of the island. The blue of the sea and the nautical stripes greet you as far back as the terrace of the house. The colors of the sand, navy blue and the green of nature, all highlighted by the immaculate white, give a cool and positive atmosphere, implying the sea and vegetation.

Coastal decor captures the serene and relaxed ambiance of beachfront living, infusing homes with a sense of tranquility and natural beauty. Inspired by the colors, textures, and elements found along the coast, this style often features a palette of soft blues, sandy neutrals, and crisp whites, evoking the sea, sky, and sandy shores. Natural materials like driftwood, seashells, and jute are commonly used to add organic textures and a touch of maritime charm. Nautical motifs such as anchors, ropes, and sailboats are also prevalent, contributing to the overall maritime theme. Whether you live by the sea or simply want to bring a piece of the coast into your home, coastal decor offers a timeless and refreshing look that celebrates the beauty of the ocean. I hope it inspires you!
