Project: Hampstead Apartment

Hampstead Apartment was recently designed by Bradley Van Der Straeten Architects, an award winning chartered architecture practice based in North London.
The property is an old Victorian mansion flat located in West Hampstead. The flat needed an update and there was an opportunity to really exploit the potential of its proportions and make it suitable for open plan living.
The design moved the kitchen space to the front of the house, merging the kitchen and living room into one open plan living area giving the interior a more modern and spacious feel.
The design has enjoyed championing natural materials and making them a real feature. Brass is the signature material on the palette for the kitchen and bathroom. The golden colour creates warm tones and is more tactile than a cold marble or granite worktop.
The key success of this project is using a neutral palette of natural materials to integrate the period features of the property within modern and practical living spaces. The result is an apartment that will stand the test of time in terms of durability and design.
