Estúdio Elmor designed Hugo Lange Apartment as a peaceful retreat for a single entrepreneur who loves surfing. Moreover, the project draws inspiration from coastal life, translating the calm energy of the sea into a bright, welcoming home in São Paulo.
Inspiration & Design Concept
First, the resident’s passion for surfing guided the design. Consequently, the apartment features light, soft wall colors that evoke sand and stone textures. In addition, pops of sunny yellow capture daylight and infuse the space with warmth. Ultimately, the goal was to create a refuge where the owner can recharge between business demands and ocean adventures.
Entrance Hall: A Warm Welcome
Upon entry, guests encounter a minimalist foyer designed for both privacy and function. A simple console table anchors the space while carefully chosen décor hints at the apartment’s coastal theme. Moreover, built‑in storage keeps clutter hidden, maintaining a serene first impression.
Dining Area: Sharing Stories
Next, the dining room serves as a stage for daily gatherings. Here, the Maresias chair by Carlos Motta and artwork by André Mendes add character. Meanwhile, natural light floods the area through large windows, creating an inviting backdrop for meals and conversations.
Home Office: Work Meets Play
Furthermore, the home office doubles as a creative refuge. A lime‑beton wall finish evokes sandy textures, while nautical ropes and a surfboard nod to seaside adventures. Consequently, this space balances productivity with a relaxed, beach‑inspired atmosphere.
Living Room: Calm & Connectivity
In the living room, Estúdio Elmor installed a custom bookshelf by Cinex Arch Curitiba that frames views of the outdoors. Neutral linen upholstery, straw accents, and leather details echo natural materials found on the shore. Moreover, flexible furniture placement enhances circulation and encourages social interaction.
Kitchen: Bright & Functional
The kitchen maintains the apartment’s light, airy feel. Porcelain tile floors from Portobello and sleek yellow cabinetry brighten the space. In addition, generous countertops and smart storage solutions ensure daily convenience without sacrificing style.
Finishes & Materials
Finally, Estúdio Elmor emphasized contrasts between tactile, natural surfaces and refined details. Travertine marble walls meet the lightness of Cinex Home System shelving. Beach&Country armchairs sit beside crisp lines and integrated lighting. In sum, every material choice reinforces the apartment’s tranquil, sun‑lit aesthetic.
Overall, Hugo Lange Apartment proves that thoughtful design can transform a small urban flat into a coastal sanctuary—one that celebrates both the sea and the city.
