CLB Architects – More than two decades since our founding in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, we have evolved but our essentials remain unchanged. The projects are recognizable: thoughtful, innovative, and refined in their details. A collaborative process enables us to engage clients and therefore our portfolio is loaded with a diverse set of designs each responsive to a particular set of conditions. The power of landscape, the quality of light and the simple honesty of vernacular architecture influence the work. Each endeavor is guided with the firm’s philosophy in mind – inspired by place.
Since our inception in 1992, the Jackson studio has grown to accommodate a staff of more than 40 led by principals John Carney, Eric Logan, Kevin Burke and Andy Ankeny. We maintain an informal and collegial atmosphere that encourages individual creativity and teamwork in an open, collaborative environment.
In 2017 we opened a full-service design studio in Bozeman. Our design approach integrates well with the landscape and cultural context of southwestern Montana. We are thrilled to be contributing to the collection of legacy buildings in this new, but familiar environment.
The renovation ” Slopeside Remodel ” was to be a concise editing of the architecture and furnishings – a process of removal rather than addition. Key walls and an oversized stone fireplace were removed to create better connections and flow at the main living spaces.
The clients, part-time residents of Jackson Hole, were already familiar with the golfing community south of town when they purchased a 2.3-acre lot and approached CLB Architects about designing a legacy residence.
CLB Architects has collaborated with one family on a 180-acre Jackson Hole property over a period of twenty-plus years. The breadth of work — five projects in a wildlife-rich riverine ecosystem — depicts the evolution of one couple’s aesthetic
A spectacular site, artistic freedom and clients with vision came together to create the perfect opportunity for Carney Logan Burke Architects to design a modern art piece on the banks of the Snake River.
A quiet 18-acre meadow lot boasting 360-degree views of ranchlands, foothills and Glory Peak just outside Jackson, Wyoming, proved the perfect site for a Pennsylvania couples’ first foray into regionally appropriate modernism.
Carney Logan Burke was tasked to design an entire compound for a young family relocating from the San Francisco Bay Area to Wilson, Wyoming. The collaborative approach resulted in an open, airy, nature-inspired Wyoming family compound that makes the most of its site while meeting the needs of an active family.
The Boulder Retreat’s program called for a modest but expandable residential program to be interpreted in an architectural language that is abstract rather than literal in referencing the ubiquitous “western log cabin.”
The owners for this 5,600-square-foot residence desired a “ fishing cabin ” in the West. They purchased property with an existing house on a beautiful 10-acre site in Jackson, Wyoming. The land offered privacy, views to the Teton Mountain Range, close proximity to a fishing creek and access to the wildlife habitat that the creek supports.
