We built a Wormhole above Bond Street by invading a historic structure with futuristic bits to create a world within a world: new inside of old, dark inside of bright, minimal inside of maximal. The Bond Street apartment is defined by a complete change of style, form, lighting, and material on all surfaces from floor to ceiling.
What do you do when you are faced to reuse a small, mediocre, 100 years old structure, non-Landmarked, which has been altered and stripped of numerous details? do you preserve everything for the sake of it or do you change “something” giving new significance to the building?
Conveying a unique mountain feel, the Deer Park office building is an example of Vertical Arts’ wide-ranging expertise in architecture, landscaping, interior design and furniture fabrication.
The Trout Lake retreat contains four distinct buildings arranged in two groupings. The first grouping contains the main house, a woodworking shop, and a carport all contained under a single roof in a T-shape. A covered courtyard connects the three spaces in the middle of the “T”.
The Wonderland Park Residence is nestled in the famous hills of Laurel Canyon in Los Angeles, CA. The Wonderland Park area is a special enclave of mid-century residences that include neighbors such as Case Study #21 by Pierre Koenig built in 1959.
The owners proposed LEED Platinum certification and Net Zero Energy for House of Earth and Sky. With that as a starting point, the project strove to integrate ecological responsibility holistically into the design, such that sustainability performance and architectural expression become one inseparable whole.
In designing the Waterview Condominium, it was essential for the views to remain the primary visual experience from all the spaces, including the circulation axes. Ideally, ceiling height would be maximized especially along the ten feet high, floor to ceiling, uninterrupted glass curtain wall.
