Scandinavian notes welcome visitors to the beautiful home just outside London where Lykke from Denmark lives with her husband and their three children. After the couple bought the house two years ago, it underwent extensive renovation.
The Ocean Pond Residence is neither the retro modern, upside down house nor a McMansion. In fact its footprint is less than 3,500 square feet on a 42-acre site. It is organized in section like a Fibonacci spiral utilizing five continuous levels of activity culminating in a roof top point look out across the sea, farmlands and pond.
Situated on a sweeping Texas Hill Country meadow, Milagro Springs Retreat is defined by a series of jagged roof peaks inspired by the rise and fall of the surrounding hills. Lovingly referred to it as “The Sanctuary” by its owners, an active couple of ordained ministers, and executed on a very modest budget
The Norwegian Wild Reindeer Centre Pavilion is located at Hjerkinn on the outskirts of Dovrefjell National Park, overlooking the mountain Snøhetta. The 90 m2 building is open to the public and serves as an observation pavilion for the Wild Reindeer Foundation educational programmes.
Flexibility was also embedded in the brief for this project. With the idea of staying in this home for years to come, creating experiences was pivotal. The sliding glass and timber-battened screens, for example, fully retract to allow a seamless connection to the garden.
Brickface is a compact building situated at the rear of an existing house in Richmond, Melbourne. It consists of a garage at ground level, studio living/guest suite at first floor, and a roof deck.
Located in Hawthorn East, this black brick apartments (Ari apartments) lives in the heart of the historical brick-making area and only a stone’s throw away from the original brickworks site itself.
The modernisation process began in 2008, when the owners of one of the new flats faced an interesting task together with the architectural firm Saukkonen + Partners. Their particular part of the property had previously housed a bank, and converting this space into a home required a radically different layout.
