The Pastel Paradise Apartment by Tushar Mistry Design Studio is a stunning reflection of a close friendship and a deep understanding of a client’s personality. With no formal design brief, the owner, a good friend of architect Tushar Mistry, trusted him entirely to create a space that not only suited the family’s lifestyle but also embodied their love for Art Deco, pastels, and grandeur. Tushar successfully crafted a home that intertwines these elements, delivering a unique and personalized living space.
A Palette of Pastels and Art Deco Grandeur
The entire apartment radiates an Art Deco charm, from its soft pastel color palette to its carefully selected motifs and materials. The thoughtful styling brings out the essence of this design era while also keeping the space fresh and contemporary. For instance, the powder pink wall in the dining area serves as the perfect backdrop for a Persian carpet, immediately catching the eye and adding a sense of elegance to the room.
Another standout feature is the choice of marble in the bathrooms, which was specifically chosen to complement the luxurious Kohler fittings. Onyx light fittings add a warm glow to the space, while a pebble-shaped dining table, crafted from Patagonia marble, stands as a centerpiece of sophistication. Additionally, the use of materials like burl veneer with lamination and marble is consistent throughout the apartment, enhancing its opulent yet refined aesthetic.
Clever Storage Solutions and Custom Details
What makes the design truly unique is the attention to detail in functional elements. The cupboards, for example, have no external handles. Instead, inbuilt handles in the shutters offer a sleek, minimalist look that fits seamlessly with the overall aesthetic of the home.
The client’s only specific requirements were to include space for a temple and to incorporate a jhula (swing). Tushar beautifully incorporated these into the design. In the living room, three custom-designed racks serve specific purposes. The central rack, finished with a rattan shutter, functions as the temple, while the two surrounding racks display the client’s collection of Swarovski crystals. Meanwhile, the jhula finds its perfect spot in the master balcony, where the client enjoys spending the most time.
Vastu Compliant and Smart Space Planning
Creating a Vastu-compliant home from a bare shell required meticulous planning and attention to detail. Tushar ensured that every area in the apartment was thoughtfully placed to maintain harmony with the family’s lifestyle and Vastu principles. The result is a home that not only fulfills the family’s functional needs but also fosters a sense of balance and tranquility.
By integrating these elements, Tushar Mistry Design Studio delivered a home that reflects the vibrant personality of its owner while honoring the architectural beauty of Art Deco design. The Pastel Paradise Apartment is not just a living space, but a true reflection of personal style, thoughtful planning, and timeless elegance.
