About Joe Fletcher
Born and raised in London, UK, Joe Fletcher studied painting at Chelsea College of Art & Design, receiving his BA in Fine Art, and later attended London’s Goldsmiths University, graduating with a MFA in photography. In 2003, he left soggy London for foggy San Francisco. His photos have since been featured in magazines such as Wallpaper, Architectural Digest and San Francisco, displaying his aesthetic and his appreciation for the art of architecture and the beauty of light. Fletcher is also the photographer of two books Ranch Houses, Living the California Dream (Rizzoli) and Cliff May and the Modern Ranch House (Rizzoli). He now lives with his wife and two mischievous dachshund mutts in Oakland, CA

This renovation of an old craftsman home challenged the architects to weave together the old and the new, to bring out the threads of architectural tradition while maintaining the architectural clarity of the modern addition.
Designed in collaboration with the client – an architect based in Truckee – Analog House celebrates a rugged, high desert site populated by ponderosa pine, manzanita, and exposed basalt.
At CAMPout Retreat, comprehensive rigor and consistent deployment of materials based on building-sized decision-making instill a sense of calm and connection for the whole assemblage and ultimately the family.

An unusual two-lot property in Stinson Beach is the site of a dramatic horizontal architectural composition that is subtle from the street but opens into view-filled pavilions towards the lagoon and coast range.
Situated amongst tall redwoods scarred from recent forest fires, perched on the side of Mount Veeder, the dwelling is nestled into the hillside overlooking Yountville and Stags Leap.
A man-made object in nature may exist in harmony or disparity. The goal was to reconnect this structure into the environment while best utilizing the exceptional site for the clients.
