The Quest House / Strom Architects
The Quest House is a private house in Swanage, UK; it is a new-build home replacing an ageing bungalow that had been on the site since 1917. The clients wanted a house for their retirement, but with a keen interest in design and a love of abstract and modern art, it needed to eschew the usual trappings of staid, retirement home design.
The Crow’s Nest / Holiday House by AR Design Studio
AR Design Studio was approached by the clients who were looking to extend their holiday home on a cliff top on the South Coast. Half way through the planning process, the existing house catastrophically broke in half one night during a landslip.
Zinc House / OB Architecture
The site presented us with a few challenges. First of all, it was set between 2 traditional, low lying thatched cottages identified as being of architectural significance. Secondly, the views out to sea were only achievable at first floor level, and thirdly, the front, less-private side to the plot faced south meaning there would be a conflict between the road and the proposed garden that would front onto it.

Nooks and crannies permeate and define the extension and refurbishment of this terraced house. Through a series of structural alterations we formed a series of elegant, open plan and light filled spaces conceived as a series of nooks from the scale of a room down to the home for a favourite bowl.

Garden House is a new home, studio and gallery under a ‘hanging-basket’ roof for Whitaker Malem: the artist and costume-maker duo behind works by Allen Jones, fashion designers Hussein Chalayan and Alexander McQueen and numerous film costumes including Harry Potter, Batman and Wonderwoman.
Historic Horse Stables Turned into a Wonderful Three Bedroom Home
This dilapidated stable block has been remodeled into a refreshingly minimalistic house whilst retaining key pieces of its characteristic history, such as the re-conditioned stable partitions and the painstakingly restored drinking troughs, which have been brought back to life as wash basins, located in the en-suite bathrooms.
