Sited on a rocky desert plateau outside of Palm Desert, this residence is tightly nestled within a constellation of boulders, overlooking the Coachella Valley and the San Jacinto Mountain Range beyond. The diagram of the home is a triptych of elements: a floating roof plane, a collection of wooden volumes, and two concrete anchor walls.
Located in the hills of Montecito, California, this small residence presented the designers with the challenge of achieving a bold program with a modest budget. Collaborating with the client, the designers developed a unique residential character and focused on orienting design around the property’s surrounding environment, framing views of the Santa Ynez mountains through expansive glass openings on the North facade.

Renovation of a 3,000 square foot apartment in a 1960s building in Santa Monica, California. Floor plan was reconfigured to connect all rooms and open them up to views of the Malibu Coast.

The Branch Residence is located on a one acre-lot in the hills of Montecito. The property originally held a 1960’s ranch house with native Coastal Live Oaks in the back yard.
