Inspired by the essence of a home that becomes more beautiful with age, Skyline Drive House by FGR Architects is the result of a two material palette, concrete and glass chosen for their qualities of beatification with time, sustainability, simplicity of build and integration into the building’s existing environment.
Framed by the green of the Cerrito hill, the building concept of the headquarters of Lineastudio Architectures was designed respecting the original topography of the terrain and the nature of the surroundings, confused with the natural landscape.
Hale Nukumoi is the quintessential Hawaiian beach house: open, casual, and unfussy. Adjacent to a popular public beach, the house makes skillful use of oversized sliding doors, a custom rainscreen, and layered plantings to provide much-needed privacy when desired.
This artificial geography allows the social areas to approach the trees to enjoy the visual, wind and shade of the morning, likewise, these are supported in the private areas of the house, concentrating on a mass to avoid radiation direct sunlight in the afternoon and conserve heat for the cold of the night
Located at Castor Bay on Auckland’s North Shore, the dark box like forms of Bay House stretch and weave along the elevated south-facing site. Recessed into the bank, the concrete basement is fractured by a glass roofed atrium space that allows sun and natural light to permeate deep within the building footprint.
Tapping into the open building movement, Superlofts offers its residents the freedom to design and/or self-build their homes from scratch incorporating any hybrid function, and co-create the shared spaces as a community.
The Ghat house is located on a terrain that has a 25º inclination, facing the Pacific Ocean. Its design, structure, internal organization, and the lifestyle proposed within it were determined by the pre-existing conditions of the topography.
Just before they bought the Silo apartment, I showed them my new office, which is also at the Kanaal-site (www.kanaal.be). They were impressed by the project and three days later, they bought the silo, which was an opportunity and a challenge for me!
