This plywood-lined loft extension housing a child’s bedroom is conceived of as a ‘Treehouse’ – a perfect hideaway in which to rest and play, atop this north London family home.
The proposal, located within the Winchester City Conservation area, comprises of a full width ground floor extension, extending 1500mm out from the existing rear extension footprint. The proposal is to utilise the ground floor extension to create a large open plan living area with a contemporary woodburner, playroom and kitchen area.
Take one 1950s split level home in need of renovation. Add a cost-sensitive budget and gutsy clients up for the challenge of playing with everyday materials such as construction-grade plywood, white paint, and the odd IKEA hack.
