The clients, an interior designer and a DJ, requested a complete renovation and addition of a 1960’s kit house in Amagansett, NY to be a weekend retreat from their urban apartment.
The Essendon House Renovation successfully blends heritage restoration with modern functionality, creating a home that accommodates both independent living and large family gatherings. Lai Cheong Brown’s careful design respects the historical significance of the property while introducing contemporary features that make the home a welcoming space for a multi-generational family.

We expanded a traditional shingled cottage home by marrying a new addition and a renovation project together. The design reorients the house to the garden, an existing swimming pool, and the bucolic views of the neighboring farm in order to reinforce the relationships between outdoor activities and the surrounding landscape.
Rear extension to a double fronted Edwardian Redbrick, slate roof, four principle rooms with a central corridor. The new is essentially a self-contained home for parents. Children and guests are housed in the existing building with their own large bathroom.
