The story of Kahshe Lake Cottage started in 1987, when the parents of Solares’s own Tom Knezic bought the water-access property and built a small bunkie as a temporary shelter.
The story of Kahshe Lake Cottage started in 1987, when the parents of Solares’s own Tom Knezic bought the water-access property and built a small bunkie as a temporary shelter.
This was a collaborative project between Julie Reinhart Design and Asquith Architecture. The Playter Estates Reinvention project is a full renovation and new addition to a house in the Playter Estates Neighbourhood in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
This renovation to a Victorian semi in Toronto’s Riverdale neighbourhood is a fine balance of restoration and the introduction of contemporary elements. The kitchen was moved from the rear of the house to the middle, with the dining room situated at the front of the house in the former parlour.
City House is an urban oasis located at the heart of the city on an established residential street. Characterized by traditional Victorian homes, the original neighbouring houses have long occupied the tight, narrow lots typical of the area.
This project began as a simple addition to the rear of a two storey detached house in Bedford Park. Through the design and construction process the renovation expanded to include a full renovation weaving a new and modern aesthetic into the existing house.
A mid 1960´s villa by architect Guðmundur Kr. Kristinsson needed renovation and repair. The original house was a prime example of late modern architecture in Reykjavik. The project encompassed exterior renovations and retrofitting executed with respect to the high quality typical of Guðmundur´s design.
Spanning three very different heritage brick and beam buildings, this technically complex renovation opened up previously closed-off workspaces and exposed the character of the original buildings buried underneath previous renovations.
This prefabricated wooden house is laid out so all family members are aware of each other, yet respecting everyone´s privacy. A large open space (almost 6 meters ceiling height) connects the living room, the kitchen, a workspace and the upper floor spaces.
