The Afife house is built in the north of Portugal, in a rural settlement that was established at the foot of the hill and expanded towards the plain, which is used as arable land, and extends to the sea.
The intervention in a semi-detached home, located in a perfectly consolidated urban area of the city of Oporto, had as its objective the simplification of the way of dwelling, of a house that already accused the passage of time.
Casa Cabo de Vila was built on a hilltop in Paredes, a municipality in Portugal’s Porto district. The architects at Spaceworkers conceived the house as a delightful adornment for the lush natural surroundings. The Bonfim house is a reconstruction of a pre existing home in Porto, north of Portugal, dated from the late 70s. It is intended for a young family living in the city. This family wanted a functional home with large, cleared areas with 4 floors and about 450 sqm.
The Dovecote House, located in Soutelo, Portugal, is an old structure transformed and reimagined by AZO – Sequeira Arquitectos Associados. This renovation brings a touch of magic and creativity to a family home by converting the former dovecote into a playful retreat for children and a poolside balneary.
Designed by Manuel Aires Mateus, and completed in 2015, this house is located on the edge of a small chain of hills. Set in relative isolation, it sits above the village of Melides and the lack of neighbouring houses allows for unobstructed views of the ocean, which are particularly magnificent at sunset.
Gateira is a hamlet placed on a beautiful hill planted with vineyards, pines and olive trees with splendid views over the southern tip of Serra da Estrela, the highest point in mainland Portugal. The clients – a British couple – wanted a second home to give them space, open air and silence, in contrast to their life in London.
