The Tornado House by OOIIO Architecture Studio is a custom single-family home in Barajas, Madrid, where architecture and interior design come together to create a unique living space. In every project, OOIIO Architecture Studio begins with an in-depth understanding of the client’s needs, lifestyle, and tastes. Early meetings focus on learning about the client’s hobbies, memorable spaces they’ve visited, and how they envision their ideal home. This personalized approach ensures that each design is truly customized to fit the future residents.
After analyzing local regulations, the team moves into developing spatial solutions that meet the client’s requirements. Through multiple sketches, they refine their ideas, balancing practicality and creativity to shape a cohesive design. In the Tornado House, the final layout reflects the client’s taste through a skillful use of natural light, illuminating the interiors through strategic wall openings. Round volumes define different areas of the home, with each space connected through a harmonious flow.
A Calm and Textured Material Palette
Both the exterior and interior surfaces are clad in raw, soft-toned materials, creating a calm and unified aesthetic. The careful selection of materials was a priority, with weeks spent in the studio perfecting every detail. This focus on materials enhances the home’s overall texture, with natural tones that blend seamlessly. Inside, traditional elements from central Spain are mixed with subtle Asian influences, adding personality and creating a distinctive, harmonious design language.
Situated in the dynamic neighborhood of Barajas, Madrid, Tornado House is a thoughtful fusion of form and function, providing a serene yet character-filled residence.
