Valburn Residence

Designed by Alterstudio Architecture, built by Wilmington-Gordon with landscape design by Mark Word, Valburn Residence is truly an exceptional example of contemporary architecture that celebrates the natural beauty of its surroundings. Perched on a hilltop in Austin, Texas, the home offers sweeping Hill Country views that include the Pennybacker Bridge.

Design elements such as walls of floor to ceiling windows, glass doors and cantilevered outdoor living areas allow one to experience the views and setting both inside and out. The thoughtful floor plan includes a master suite on the main level, a lower level with three bedrooms and game room, as well as two offices with a full bathroom on the upper level that could be additional bedrooms. Completing the home are the wonderful outdoor spaces that include a spacious terraced lawn, outdoor living area with kitchen and rooftop balcony with putting green. Cloaked House was clearly inspired by the place, a piece of land surrounded by chestnut trees, incredibly ripped into the mountain, flanked by a stream that flows down the hillside and a magnificent open view of the other side of the valley perfectly nestled into the natural landscape.
