The West London House project, led by Hodgkinson Design, transformed a deteriorating property into a stylish and comfortable family home. Initially, the house faced structural issues, shaking whenever vehicles passed by, which made the space uncomfortable. To address this, the team reinforced the structure, insulated the walls and roofs, added double-glazed windows, and installed underfloor heating. Additionally, photovoltaic panels on the roof enhance house’s energy efficiency, showing a commitment to sustainable design.
A Spacious Open-Plan Living Space
The new rear extension reshaped West London House by creating a large, open-plan kitchen, dining, and living area, ideal for family gatherings. Full-height windows allow natural light to flood the space, offering beautiful views of the landscaped garden. Moreover, the design prioritizes natural light, with sightlines stretching from east to west to promote a sense of openness throughout house.
Blending Traditional and Modern Design
On the ground floor, Hodgkinson Design highlighted the home’s heritage by adding traditional paneling, herringbone oak flooring, and ceilings with classic cornices. These classic touches blend seamlessly with modern lighting and furniture, balancing the home’s traditional charm with contemporary style. Together, they create an elegant yet welcoming atmosphere that flows throughout West London House.

In the new extension, polished concrete floors and soundproofed ceilings bring a peaceful, modern feel to West London House.
