WeWork Office Corsham Street is our fifth project in collaboration with the global coworking provider. We were given the shell and core of a new building development and in 16 weeks, we completed a full design and build project over two floors. We worked alongside WeWork’s design team to draw up design concepts. They drew inspiration from the history of local area and WeWork’s brand identity to create a highly creative design.
Corsham Street is the first WeWork office project with direct access to street level, as opposed to multi-let building. This meant extra consideration was required for both building security and temperature movement from outside. The idea behind WeWork is to create a platform for creatives, an office space but not as we know it. The design capitalises on the building’s central atrium. As you walk into WeWork Corsham there is a concrete spiral staircase feature. When glancing up, the network of exposed building services are arranged to resemble art on the ceiling. A maze of pipes and ductwork are closely coordinated to create a dramatic effect at high level. From New York to San Francisco to Tel Aviv, Amsterdam and London, the brand is distinctively consistent, right down to the coffee, craft beer and coolers of cucumber-infused water.
For the benefit of their members, WeWork required 100 percent certainty that the project would be completed on time and on budget. Trusting our proven design and build methodology, we were able to deliver this. The fit out includes a mixture of communal and glassed-in member spaces surrounded by unique interior design. Formal and informal meeting areas are populated with leather sofas, rugs and quirky throw pillows. Breakout spaces include unique kitchen facilities with bespoke joinery and feature fittings. Telephone booths and quiet zones provide privacy when needed.
