This 1500 SF loft apartment is located in one of Tribeca’s most beautiful turn-of-the-century brick buildings. The renovation transformed a poorly layed out floorplan into a series of serene spaces.
Vortex house combines familiar regular forms with more dynamic elements that suggest motion and spinning. The new walls are folded and pinched as necessary to make space, as if the entire surface of the new interior is made of a single sheet of folded paper.
The project is a major renovation of an apartment built in the early 60´s in Sao Paulo, which already had a good plan, yet compartmentalized in it´s original distribution. Our proposal retains much of this distribution, but applying a series of changes that transform not only the space of the apartment
Most lofts are dark in the middle, but this space has windows on three sides, plus an enormous skylight creating this amazing light Scandinavian minimalism that we love. In the old days it was a paper factory, and in the old oak floors you could see the oil stains and mounting screws from where the machines had been.
The Appartement 108 is a living place for a passionate of design in the heart of Paris. The flat is composed by a living room with a protagonist brushed brass kitchen. The night area is separated by rotative bookcases from a bright bathroom.
Based on this premise, the architects João Pedro Crescente and Raquel Zaffalon from the brazilian architecture office AMBIDESTRO, have decided to create a layout that changes according to the use.
