In the transformative renovation of their Bozeman split-level house, Allison Bryan, founder and creative director of Woman-Owned Open Studio Collective, and Nicolas Smith collaborated with dear friends and the local design community to infuse the space with unique elements. Due to the housing crisis in Bozeman they opted to get an affordable house that needed work, and add their personal touches to make it an architect’s dream.
Material in Portland, Oregon crafted the solid ash cabinetry, complemented by limestone countertops. Lighting from designer Nash Martinez at Current Collection and &Tradition added a touch of brilliance. Artwork sourced from Echo Arts and Placed Projects showcases local talent. Plaster wall finishes by New Age Artisans enhanced the home’s character. Allison and OSC personally tackled a significant amount of the tile work, much of it sourced from Bozeman’s own Onyx Tile. Allison also completed the primary bath shower tadelakt work with assistance from OSC associate Georgia Barnett. This collaborative effort celebrates both the vision of friends and the craftsmanship of local businesses, resulting in a home that is a true reflection of community spirit and creative collaboration.
