Designed by Tzvia Kazayoff, the Eclectic Style Duplex serves as a vibrant living space for a dynamic seventy-year-old couple who sought to transform their 20-year-old residence into a home that reflects their unique blend of experience and youthful spirit. This project beautifully illustrates how personal style and architectural design can evolve to meet contemporary standards while still honoring a lifetime of memories.
Design Philosophy
Kazayoff’s approach to the duplex combines various elements that speak to both the past and the present, creating an eclectic aesthetic that mirrors the couple’s character. The design philosophy centers around the idea of blending the traditional with the modern, making the home a testament to both the couple’s lived experiences and their ongoing engagement with current trends.
Material and Decor Choices
The selection of materials was key to achieving the desired ambiance. Wood, brass, steel, marble, ceramic, and glass were used throughout the home to craft spaces that feel both timeless and timely. These materials add layers of texture and luxury, contributing to a rich, sensory experience that is both visually appealing and deeply personal.
Lighting and Atmosphere
The choice of a Hoops pendant lamp to illuminate the dining area is a highlight of the project, providing not only functional lighting but also serving as a statement piece that enhances the eclectic decor. This lighting choice complements the bold material choices, helping to bridge the gap between the traditional elements and modern updates.
A Home that Evolves
The Eclectic Style Duplex is more than just a residence; it’s a living space that cherishes the past while embracing the future. It stands as a powerful example of how home design can evolve with its inhabitants, reflecting their growth, changes, and the courage to embrace new ideas.
Conclusion
Tzvia Kazayoff’s design for the Eclectic Style Duplex in 2022 successfully captures the essence of its owners—celebrating their rich past while boldly stepping into the future. This project showcases how thoughtful design can transform a living space into a personalized narrative of its occupants’ lives and styles, making it not just a house, but a true home.
