Monastero Santa Rosa Hotel, a New Standard for Breathtaking Panoramas

Monastero Santa Rosa Hotel and spa - Amalfi Coast (9)

Originally, a monastery from the 17th century, Monastero Santa Rosa has been restored and turned into an exclusive boutique hotel and a luxury Spa. Situated on Amalfi Coast, Italy, with a tremendous historical heritage, Monastero Santa Rosa Hotel & Spa sets a new standard for breathtaking panoramas. Over the years, the sisters from this monastery have been supporting the local community. In the mid 1800s, the building ceased its religious role and it was transferred to the municipality ownership.

The monastery was transformed into a hotel in 1924 by Caterina family and is one of the 39 castle hotels from Italy. For three generations, the owners took care to preserve the original architectural bases of the monastery, while implementing modern facilities for guests. The hotel’s motto was, “At each window, the sun. From each window, the sea.”

After the death of Caterina family, the hotel became shabby, remaining alone on the edge of a cliff, dominating the Gulf of Salerno as a reminder of its former glory, hospitality, wealth and honorable history. In 2000, the old hotel was purchased and for 10 years architects and historians have worked to restore the old monastery, which was transformed into a luxury hotel.

Monastero Santa Rosa allows guests to set the tone of their stay, no matter whether they want to isolate themselves in an intimate hideaway, either they choose to have fun in groups and make new acquaintances. It is hard to imagine that lavish decors, four levels of gardens, lush landscaping of the land, plentiful lounge chairs and canopied daybeds serve only 20 rooms and suites.

Although boutique hotels don’t accustom, Monastero Santa Rosa hosts a fully equipped spa that rival with the facilities of any big hotel. Guests are welcome to feel a part of the scene at the library and bar. Engage in a game of chess or cards or read while sipping a martini in the modern cocktail area. Relax down by the pool or discover the resort’s secret gardens, quiet sun decks, and indoor relaxation areas. Get the best of both worlds by making your stay as energizing or relaxed as you wish, by selecting different spaces to suit your mood at any time.
