Nestled within a protected conservation area, the New London Road Villa by Edward Parsley Associates transforms an Edwardian home into a seamless family sanctuary. Moreover, it preserves period details while introducing modern spaces that respond perfectly to daily life.
Restoring Elegance, Reimagining Flow
First, the architects removed unsympathetic, piecemeal additions to reveal the villa’s original proportions. Consequently, the remaining formal reception rooms regain their sense of hierarchy and refinement. Then, a carefully considered ground-floor extension opens to the garden, creating a light-filled open-plan kitchen, dining, and family area—ideal for both entertaining and everyday gatherings.
Practical Luxury Behind the Scenes
Meanwhile, previously awkward corridors gave way to a practical boot room and organized utility spaces. In addition, a new leisure wing houses a gym and spa, ensuring that wellness and relaxation are always close at hand. Furthermore, existing first-floor rooms were reconfigured with en-suites and dressing areas, and a loft conversion added extra bedrooms—each tailored for privacy and comfort.
Contemporary Language, Heritage Respect
Moreover, the side and rear extensions introduce a contemporary architectural language—employing high-quality materials and precise detailing. Nonetheless, every new element was calibrated to complement the villa’s historic fabric. As a result, the Local Authority’s heritage team endorsed the design, praising its balance of innovation and sensitivity.
A Timeless Family Home
Ultimately, the New London Road Villa exemplifies how a heritage asset can evolve gracefully. By weaving period charm with modern functionality, Edward Parsley Associates delivers a home that offers luxury, comfort, and enduring architectural integrity—truly a timeless setting for family life.
