In the case of this Hyde Park house, the client enjoys great success in the entertainment world. Whilst showcasing the intelligence and sophistication behind the exuberance, I was compelled to reflect his stage personality in his home.
Founded by Daniel Hopwood in 1993, the studio is an interior design practice with associate architects, landscape architects and project managers. The studio is based in London.

After many years of living in the Near and Far East, our clients retired and returned to London. They wanted a base which is easy to manage, comfortable, feels stylish and new and is also a good backdrop for their art collection.
A newly married couple approached me in a bit of a quandary. They had just bought a brand new house in north London. It certainly ticked all the boxes, with lots of space and plenty of bedrooms for a potential family and visiting parents.
The sheer scale of the Dollar Bay penthouse is instantly striking. Presented over 4-storeys, this is penthouse living for those with lofty expectations. The louvered facade means that wherever you are in your home, a real sense of space is unmistakable. The Marylebone apartment was affordable as it was still in its 1958 state — charming yet freezing — and the shower was a rubber contraption pushed over the bath taps. Easily solved you’d think with my experience of designing and refurbishing homes for clients, but life is not that simple.
