This prefabricated wooden house is laid out so all family members are aware of each other, yet respecting everyone´s privacy. A large open space (almost 6 meters ceiling height) connects the living room, the kitchen, a workspace and the upper floor spaces.
The Formentera house focuses on the duality between the telluric and the tectonic. The heavy and the light. The earth and the air. The handcrafted and the technological. Compression effort and traction resistance.
When you enter a penthouse duplex apartment and it feels like you’ve walked into a basement, something isn’t right. That is what happened when we first arrived to look at a project in the former parish house at St. George’s church.
We have reinvigorated the unexciting, worn out original 1960s villa unit in a secluded inner eastern Melbourne suburb to a “modern inner-city apartment” within the constrained budget.
SINBIN is a creative house balancing both natural and built environments. At it’s core, the space inspires action and activity. It is purpose-built for playing, making, and collaboration of all types.
The Lake View Residence takes full advantage of its location on a bluff overlooking Lake Michigan with large expanses of glass maximizing lake views. Privacy is maintained on the street side with a winding drive and opaque/translucent materials.
A newly married couple approached me in a bit of a quandary. They had just bought a brand new house in north London. It certainly ticked all the boxes, with lots of space and plenty of bedrooms for a potential family and visiting parents.
