Fernando Guerra has been a pioneer in the way architecture is photographed and divulged. Fifteen years ago, he opened studio FG+SG together with his brother, and both are responsible in large part for the diffusion of Portuguese contemporary architecture in the last fifteen years.
The architect was born in Lisbon, Portugal, in 1970 and obtained a degree in Architecture from Lusíada University (Lisbon), before working as an architect in Macau for five years. Fernando had been taking photographs since he was 16 years old and, in 1999, with his brother Sérgio Guerra, founded the studio ‘FG+SG – Fotografia de Arquitectura’. Five years later, they established the publishing house ‘FG+SG – Livros de Imagem’ to publicise the various architectural works they photograph.

Carvalhal House is a single family house, composed of two separate rectangular volumes, parallel to each other and to the access road to the West.

Casa Atrium is located on a rectangular and flat lot, which cuts through the block transversally from one street to the next, in a residential area of São Paulo.
Three elements make up the Hofmann house project. An extruded cover in the longitudinal direction of the ground with a “T” shape is the framework in which space is inhabited. This geometry let us feel the sea, protecting from prying eyes, having the sense of living without neighbors.

Planar House is a radical exercise in horizontality, aspect commonly explored in the projects of the studio. Concerning a reflection about the space and function occupied by cars in urban spaces nowadays, Marchi Architects (Renault’s 2016 competition winners) designed a portable house in order to give a new meaning for cars, which became fully-integrated in a house.
