Dedicated to children, the team of designers and architects from Baukind, Berlin, creates playgrounds and spaces for kindergartens, starting from the harmonious development needs of the smaller ones. The design realized by Baukind has educational potential, it encourages the children’s social interaction and it has as a source of inspiration the human’s day-to-day activities.
The design is centred on natural elements, colors and materials inspired from the environment, it supports the pedagogical concept and the educational role of the kindergarten. One of the other most interesting features of the space are the twisting trees that run vertically throughout the school’s rooms. These make the perfect things for the kids to climb on, weave in and out of and hang their coats and backpacks on. The presented space in the imagines below, it was originally a salt sauna and it was turned into a playground inspired from nature with multifunctional furniture.
The form, material, and color give the design of the day care center Drachehöhle a natural feel, which fits the pedagogical concept of this center. The combination of natural materials with a minimal form language brings peace and structure into the everyday lives of the children and at the same time offers a wide range of possibilities for physical activity.
