Perched on the 32nd and 33rd floors, the Sea View Penthouse by Dudu Cohen offers a breathtaking perspective of the endless sea. Every visit to this spectacular apartment becomes a ritual: stepping onto the roof to breathe in the sea air and feel the warm, embracing sun and refreshing wind. The natural elements not only inspire the design but are also intricately woven throughout the apartment’s every detail.
Inspiration and Materiality
Right from the outset, the sea, wind, and sun provided a continuous source of inspiration for the design. Consequently, the project embarked on a quest for natural, high-quality materials that would transport the beauty of the outdoors indoors. For instance, the expansive floor features large silver travertine stone slabs that echo the cool, reflective qualities of water. In addition, both the entrance and main dining areas boast a unique, three-dimensional stone wall covering, imported specifically from Italy. Meanwhile, all bathrooms are adorned with light stone finishes, reinforcing the connection with nature.
Moreover, every element—from the carefully selected natural textures to the custom details—has been chosen to evoke a serene, sea-inspired ambiance. The carpentry, crafted from walnut veneer accented with brass and smoked glass, adds a touch of sophistication and warmth. Equally, the bespoke furniture, textiles, carpets, bedding, and pillows were all meticulously designed to align with the character of each space, ensuring that every room feels both contemporary and reflective of coastal living.
Design Innovations and Custom Furnishings
Furthermore, the Sea View Penthouse features a kitchen crafted in collaboration with Poliform Italy, where pleasing walnut cabinets and quartz stone surfaces with hidden lighting create a harmonious blend of form and functionality. The living room receives equally thoughtful attention with furniture by Minotti, while the dining area is enhanced with pieces by Gallotti & Radice, and the master bedroom alongside the office features bespoke work by Giorgetti. In this way, each area of the penthouse tells its own story while contributing to the overall narrative of luxurious sea-inspired living.
In addition, the design innovatively conceals technological elements to preserve a clean and uninterrupted visual flow. The tenants specifically requested that TV screens remain hidden; consequently, the living room TV is discreetly integrated under the floor, while those in the bedrooms are seamlessly tucked away in the ceiling. This thoughtful solution helps maintain the room’s elegance without compromising on modern functionality.
A notable highlight of the penthouse is its custom-designed lighting. Special fixtures crafted from onyx stone serve as both functional and artistic elements, with two impressive onyx installations in the dining area and another large, infinity-shaped fixture in the kitchen. These bespoke lighting features not only enhance the ambiance but also add sculptural interest to the space.
Completed in a record time of one year, the entire project was managed with agile planning and execution. This swift process allowed the design team to adapt in real time to the tenants’ evolving requirements, resulting in a beautiful, contemporary penthouse that encapsulates the true spirit of living by the sea.
