Nestled in the southwest section of Arachova—a charming mountain town and popular winter destination—Stone View House by Lantavos Projects creates a perfect blend of modern design and rustic charm. The house sits close to the famous archaeological site of Delphi in Central Greece, making it an ideal weekend getaway for families, friends, and winter sports enthusiasts.
A Journey from Tradition to Modernity
The original structure, built in 1989, transformed dramatically through a thoughtful renovation. Designers removed outdated wooden canopies, railings, shutters, and other arbitrary structures. They replaced the old window frames with new, recycled alternatives that enhance the building’s aesthetic. Skilled professionals upgraded the plumbing, electrical, and heating systems, ensuring the home meets modern standards while keeping the spirit of the past alive.
The main level features an open-plan layout that connects the living, dining, and kitchen areas with a guest bedroom and en-suite bathroom. The designers expanded the elevated ground floor (measuring 10.50 x 7.50 meters, with an extra 3-meter extension on one side) into a welcoming and versatile space for gatherings and everyday relaxation.
Embracing Nature with Contemporary Design
Upstairs, the family’s bedrooms overlook the picturesque Amfissa valley and the majestic Mount Parnassus. These sweeping views forge a deep connection with the natural landscape. The architects clad the exterior in local stone, sourced from a nearby quarry. Local craftsmen crafted each stone element using traditional techniques, which honor the region’s heritage.
Modern metallic accents and sleek details add a contemporary twist to the rugged texture of the stone. This design approach creates a striking contrast between modern and rustic forms, resulting in a residence that feels both innovative and rooted in its surroundings.
