Tree Top Residence, Belzberg Architects 3

Tree Top Residence / Belzberg Architects

The Tree Top Residence celebrates the site’s complex landscape, merging with it seamlessly and emerging from it atop the canopy of trees that surround it. Built along a natural ridgeline, the long and narrow plan of the three-story house mimics and inverts the angles of the site’s topography, creating dynamic vertical and horizontal relationships.

Streamline House, Hufft Projects 16

Streamline House / Hufft Projects

Situated above a stream that pumps more than 300,000 gallons of crystal-clear water through its site each day, Streamline House is designed for its local vernacular. Drawing inspiration from the site’s natural stream, the power and elegance of flowing water is celebrated in the transposition of traditional forms.

Broombank House by SOUP Architects 11

Broombank House by SOUP Architects

The Broombank House is set into the banks of the sloped site and accessed via a single-track lane that arrives into a sunken entrance courtyard, offering glimpses of the views beyond. The brief from our client was to create a relaxed contemporary house within a reconsidered, ‘natural’ landscape that blurred the site boundaries to its neighbours and adjoining marshland.

Woollahra House by Porebski Architects 3

Woollahra House / Porebski Architects

Located within Woollahra Council’s Heritage Conservation Area, this residence is perched upon a 5m heritage sandstone wall that forms part of a large bushland setting. The Woollahra house has been designed as a structure that belongs to the park with its strong concrete block corner buttresses rising up from the existing sandstone base.
