The Garden Wall house had to sit alongside the existing studio/garage building, allow for direct entry to the second dwelling from the lane way plus maintain access into the garage and to the studio above whilst retaining sunlight in the existing studio room, where the owner worked.

Situated on a picturesque site on the east shore of a lake, Shoreline residence is designed to bring the experience of the lake into the house. The large living and family rooms feature panoramic lake views through floor to ceiling windows, and a clerestory above creates a sense of openness and lightness to the spaces.

The building materials played a large role in creating an industrial feel for the house, consisting of wood and steel trusses, concrete, and galvanized steel. The metal reinforces the idea that this is the type of building one would have historically found on this site.
