This house in Tel Aviv went from rural to modern, and under the professional hands of architect Raz Melamed, it underwent a full transformation that eventually suited its occupants like a glove, suited to both to their daily life and large scale hospitality that takes place on a regular basis.
The Gellatly Road House purposely uses a restricted palette of materials comprising dark stained larch cladding, birch ply and concrete.
The Dragonfly Vacation house emphasizes the crossing point between these two ecological zones – a distinct yet subtle marker of the family’s presence and legacy.
This new home was informed by our client’s experience living on the site. The design responded to a desire for a home that would allow a young family to have a seamless relationship with the native landscape of the site. The Kansas Ave Residence is layered with custom fabricated, warm walnut millwork deliberately set against the cool of the poured concrete floors and board-formed concrete door pocket.
A humble path seductively leads to a filtered stonewall with a mysterious presence. There are no windows and no reference to any grand entrance. Rather, a dense and naturally grown vegetated surroundings filtering the Agahnia house, to its almost disappearance.
