On the top floor of a five story building in Carrer Martínez de la Rosa we were presented with a 70 m2 dwelling in a poor state of conservation. It is characterised by its long, very narrow floor plan, some 17 metres long with a span of 3.20 m.
The purpose of this project is a single family house. The program is developed in two levels – social spaces on the lower floor, two bedrooms and a bathroom on the upper floor.
This project situated in the old historical town of Foz do Douro, in the City of Porto, seeks to rejuvenate one of the typical old houses in the area and to adapt it to current needs.
The house appears on Santo Tirso’s outskirts, in a clear transition to the more rural surroundings of the city, although flanked by the busy National Route 105, which connects Porto to Guimarães.
By intervening on a roof space, more specifically in the attic of a building dating from 1906, in the 21st century, a dialogue is established between the different times and ways of living,
ESQVTA acquired and refurbished a luxury apartment that would permit access to national and international public to the 15 year old ESQVTA’s aesthetic and lifestyle that had until that point only been available to clients.
This is the rehabilitation and expansion of a building in the historic center of Leiria for two- family housing. The total recovery of the existing façade is based on a very common language of the city of Leiria, with the openings in bordeaux and white colors, surrounded by stonework.
This project intends to refurbish a single-family house, severely affected by pathologies resulting from defective construction options. In addition of trying to correct the existing pathologies, we also intend to rectify the dysfunctions of spatial organization.
