A contemporary take on the Californian Bungalow, this is a new 3 bedroom home on a decent sized Northcote block. Northcote Mohawk House was designed by Statkus Architecture and was first place winner of the 2015 Architeam People’s Choice Award.
The site’s previous existence was a market garden with shelterbelts forming large outdoor rooms. Our client then planted part of the site with vineyards and fenced off paddocks for horses. He built a barn and a dressage arena.
Directed by an existing structure, we tried to make the project assimilate this structural interferences in a natural way in its external volume: the unevenness on the front facade was further accentuated by metal vertical louvers that help in the composition of the facade.
In the context of Auckland’s rugged west coast ‘Motutara’ is the arterial route that connects the west of Auckland to the black sands of Muriwai beach. ‘Motu’ is to sever, ‘Tara’ meaning for peak, describes the action of the road of this name which effectively severs the peak or highland of Muriwai from the low lying coast.
The Lake Austin House, designed by Aamodt Plumb Architects, serves as a family haven on the banks of Lake Austin. Just twenty minutes from downtown, this home is more than a residence; it’s the heart of family life, a place for gathering, and a gateway to experiencing Austin’s vibrant culture and natural beauty.
Designed by Felipe Hess in collaboration with associate Federico Concilio, Lara house was commissioned by a young businessman who needed enough space to entertain his family and friends. Lara house is located in São Paulo and has a built area of 350 sq.m.
In the picturesque setting of Marin County, architect Barbara Shands has designed the San Anselmo House, a personal project tailored for her family. Situated on a sloping site, this 2,450 square foot residence cleverly utilizes its hillside position
The Glade House project is a renovation of a late 1950’s residential dwelling in a bush glade setting in suburban Remuera. The house is modernist in style, typical of the period with low-pitched gabled roof, raking ceilings and exposed rafters. Fundamental to the re-design was the notion of providing “graduated connections” to the surrounding glade, physical and visual.
