A concept born out of our love of Canadiana and a necessity of creating functional separation in a loft just shy of 600 square feet.
The Lui House enthusiastically embraces this odd and archaic approach to street-making, by taking the best elements of the neighbouring houses and re-assembling them into a muted face that is agreeable enough to not stand out, but atypical enough to suggest a rich inner world.
The 2,150 square-foot Coal Harbour apartment originally felt much smaller due to a fragmented layout and jarring material palette. Strong, simple gestures resulted in a revised layout that opened up the living area while reconnecting the space with breath-taking views of the mountains, oceans and the city.
The MAD house is a multi-adult dwelling in Vancouver. Housing three sets of adults from the same family within a 2880 square foot volume, the home was designed to allow for wide open shared public spaces and private separated suites.
Cha Le Teahouse provides a modernist interpretation of the traditional Chinese tea ritual. The space is defined by a minimalist character that relies on an interplay of geometry and material uniformity.

The West 8th Avenue Residence is set on a modestly-sized lot in the heart of Point Grey. FdVA designed this home as a response to our clients careers in theatre, and their interest in combining Japanese principles of art with Western Architecture.
