When our clients purchased this Block Island Barn, it had an existing barn that required demolition. Within its somewhat constrained footprint, our clients built a new 4-bedroom home that required a mix of clever design solutions to accommodate guest rooms and plenty of entertainment space. The open plan main floor features furniture that allows for full outdoor views, such as a backless daybed in the conversation area and a kitchen table and chairs at bar-stool height. Sliding garage doors open to a restful stone patio, visually eliminating one wall. The raised loft is an office and sleeping space to accommodate the couple’s different schedules. The small Master Bath feels expansive, opening to a gracious outdoor shower. The interior design is a combination of urban chic and classic seaside with custom light fixtures, industrial sinks, and tiled Bath and Kitchen walls set against wood beams, barn doors, and rustic flooring.
