In the western part of Toluca city, arises an architectural masterpiece that defies the typical housing typology currently prevalent in the local market. Casa Camino Viejo, designed by Ikanimej Arquitectos, represents a commitment to excellence and a constant pursuit towards a simple yet powerful architecture as a form of expression.
Located in a condominium of only 12 houses, the Camino Viejo Residence responds to the need to generate a marketable dwelling without sacrificing its architectural value. In an environment where space quality is often compromised by commercial considerations, our team faced the challenge of balancing commercial viability with the creation of spaces that exude exceptional quality.
Inspired by the philosophy of Alberto Campo Baeza, who once said, “Light is the most luxurious material there is, but since it is free, we do not value it,” the Camino Viejo House adopts a unique approach where natural light takes center stage in the design. Through interconnected double-height spaces, natural light becomes the guiding thread that links the different levels and creates an atmosphere of spaciousness and serenity. This connection with nature and light provides residents with a unique and sublime experience.
With a focus on space quality over any material luxury, Casa Camino Viejo seamlessly integrates with its surroundings, becoming a project that captivates both visually and emotionally. However, our commitment goes beyond aesthetics; we aim to leave a lasting legacy in the city of Toluca, demonstrating that it is possible to create a profitable product without compromising architectural excellence and the quality of life of its inhabitants.
To achieve this goal, Casa Camino Viejo focuses on meticulous technical details, such as careful selection of materials, implementation of efficient lighting systems, and a space distribution that maximizes functionality and comfort. Furthermore, the project aspires to influence the future architectural development of the city, serving as an inspiring example of how architecture can elevate the standard of living in a community.
