Le Bistrot Pierre is a modern French bistro and bar located in Torquay, Devon, England. Designed by Gillespie Yunnie Architects, Le Bistrot Pierre has a palette of rich blues and grays, in true English Riviera style.
Following a successful relationship working as Architects for Le Bistrot Pierre in the New Cooperage development at Royal William Yard, the restaurateurs commissioned Gillespie Yunnie Architects to design the interior fit out for their second venture in the South West.
The beachfront location and spectacular views of Torbay informed the interior design, where we combined classic French bistro elements and brand essentials, with vibrant and often kitsch seaside elements. Split over two levels, the variation in section informed the zoning. Rich blue and grey leathers, banquette seating, and small tables create a formal and intimate dining room at first floor. At street level, layers of activity draw customers into the bustling bar space. Splashes of yellow, high ceilings, exposed concrete surfaces combined with bold lighting create a vibrant and fun space, which can be enjoyed throughout the day.
Along side this Gillespie Yunnie worked with local landscape designers to create a sun terrace with far reaching views across the bay, in true English Riviera style it is nestled in Palm trees and exotic planting and is the ideal location for enjoying the great British summer.
