Mercer Street Loft was designed by DHD Architecture + Interiors. Located on Mercer Street in SoHo NYC, this loft is on a low floor and has plenty of natural light.
This Soho loft was created in close collaboration between DHD Interiors – Architecture, and the client, where the design celebrates both classic, historical elements and modern twists.
A partial height feature wall serves a dual purpose: creating a subtle but distinct transition from public to private and bringing natural light and air into the private spaces. The design marries classic historical elements with clean modern elements, retaining original details and celebrating imperfections. These include tin ceilings, stripped cast iron columns, original floors and window casings.
Art played a crucial role within the interiors, and the client’s adventurous, eclectic tastes were communicated through vibrant area rugs, unique furniture, and special pieces like the weathered sandstone bench.
The fourteen foot dining table creates a spacious and ideal environment for entertaining guests, which is set against a whimsical wall mural done by the client’s friend.
The master bedroom and bath’s environments were designed to a slightly softer feel, with deep, warm reds as accents and a radiant, wood veneer wallpaper to complete the space.
The Owner sought to create an eclectic environment based on found objects and art. Collaboration with other artists was integral to the process so the finished product has more than one author.
