Originally, a monastery from the 17th century, Monastero Santa Rosa has been restored and turned into an exclusive boutique hotel and a luxury Spa. In the mid 1800s, the building ceased its religious role and it was transferred to the municipality ownership.
The monastery was transformed into a hotel in 1924 by Caterina family and is one of the 39 castle hotels from Italy. For three generations, the owners took care to preserve the original architectural bases of the monastery, while implementing modern facilities for guests. The hotel’s motto was, “At each window, the sun. From each window, the sea.”
After the death of Caterina family, the hotel became shabby, remaining alone on the edge of a cliff, dominating the Gulf of Salerno as a reminder of its former glory, hospitality, wealth and honorable history. In 2000, the old hotel was purchased and for 10 years architects and historians have worked to restore the old monastery, which was transformed into a luxury hotel.
