In Christmas day 2015, an out of control bush fire swept through Wye River, 116 homes were lost in the fire. This project replaces one of these homes. The site is located on a steeply sloping block, obliquely facing Bass Straight.
After a lengthy search, a full penthouse floor of a Chicago high-rise was discovered that afforded 11 foot high ceilings, a double height space looking south to the city, and 360 degrees views. The site was gutted to a shell condition, awaiting the new interventions.
A modern design with an open plan was desired, and an existing 2-story Valle Vista House house in NW Portland was vetted for a potential renovation. The existing main level was reorganized and opened up, and a third level addition for a master suite was added atop.
A restful man cave detaches from the hustle-bustle concrete jungle, a primeval model which is modernized by minimalist means and suffused with deep color scheme of forest and concepts of nature wilderness.
This semi-detached modern house was rebuilt for a young family on a 60’ x 90’ piece of land. Laid out over two different levels, the lower section of the plot houses the car porch with a ramp and staircase, connecting it to the home which sits on the higher land area.
The xt casa project is the result of the redesign of an old apartment in Ioannina. The proposal transforms the apartment into an industrial space with a unique style. The structural elements of the building have been used as the main spacial and aesthetic tool in order to define the space.
Located in the south end of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Syncline residence was designed for California-based Geoff and his husband, Nova Scotia-based James – the quiet, masculine modern form sits adjacent to Point Pleasant Park and overlooks the North-West Arm.
