Arlechin Bar in Melbourne / Six Degrees Architects

Hidden in a service lane behind Guy Grossi’s restaurant empire on Bourke Street, Arlechin started life as a store room for Guy’s vast wine collection. The brief expanded to incorporate a night time bar and daytime function space: a chance to have a drink in Guy’s personal wine cellar.

Just before they bought the Silo apartment, I showed them my new office, which is also at the Kanaal-site (www.kanaal.be). They were impressed by the project and three days later, they bought the silo, which was an opportunity and a challenge for me!

The Oakland Hills house was built originally in 1939, the house renovation aimed to update the property by creating a modern, spacious interior, without expanding its original footprint. The two-level house is perched on a hillside lot, overlooking Oakland and the San Francisco East Bay.
