Design and Architectural Features
The centerpiece of the renovation is a new master suite that overlooks a newly constructed pool. This pool area, shaded by a massive 400-year-old oak tree, serves as the heart of the clients’ personal oasis. The strategic placement of the pool under the oak not only enhances the backyard’s aesthetic but also utilizes the tree’s natural shade, making the outdoor space more enjoyable during the intense summer heat.
Integration of Indoor and Outdoor Spaces
Lemmo Architecture and Design has skillfully blurred the lines between indoor and outdoor spaces using large floor-to-ceiling windows that allow for expansive views and natural light to permeate the living areas. An indoor/outdoor wood ceiling extends from the interior out to the exterior, further harmonizing the two environments. The main living, dining, and kitchen areas within the existing structure have been opened up to create a more fluid and interconnected space. This was achieved by installing a 40-foot-long steel beam to support the existing roof, enhancing the open feel of the home.
Natural Light and Airy Interiors
New skylights have been strategically placed to allow dappled light from the ancient oak tree to brighten the interiors, adding a dynamic light play throughout the day.
