This backyard art studio was created for a retired art teacher who still loves to create art and share the experience with her two daughters. Her home did not provide adequate guest quarters, so the art studio doubles as a guest/pool house
Sky Crown Terraces are two identical and adjacent houses designed and built by Bercy Chen Studio in Austin, Texas. The monolithic form, courtyards, and habitable flat roofs evoke the vernacular of the American Southwest interpreted by Modernism.
Balcones House appears as a wide-brimmed glass pavilion rising from a solid concrete base. It’s lantern-like public face is complimented by the solid form of the guest house, a separate structure that sits with it’s back turned to the street.
Situated in Barton Hills, a South Austin neighborhood characterized by mid-century homes, this 2,900 square foot residence is strategically located on the lot to take advantage of the site’s expansive canopy of trees.
When the new owner of this 1980s house called for a complete renovation, the architects saw the opportunity to transform its dark, dated interiors while taking better advantage of the home’s spectacular location atop a promontory offering a 180-degree view of Lake Austin and the rolling hills beyond.
The Native Hostel, Bar & Kitchen is a boutique hostel, bar, cafe, and event space designed for the epicurean traveler and locals alike. It is nestled in an existing 2-story late 1800’s stone building and a mid-century brick warehouse right in the middle of the upcoming transit-oriented development adjacent to downtown.
The RoadRunner Residence aims to inject new life into a classic design. The flat-roofed single story house completed in 2014 looks as if it is floating, nestled comfortably within the trees of the Texas hill country.
